Medium bodied, dry red, crimson with some
purple hues evident. Excellent fruit and cherry scents with
good cedar and vanilla oak aromas. A plate rich in cherry,
blueberry fruits held by some good fruit acid.
Cedary, fine grained tannins are slightly grippy but will
aid good bottle maturation. A wine cellaring potential. The
2000 vintage produced yields significantly below average due
to unfavourable flowering conditions earlier in the season.
A long, dry hot summer to follow ensured a crop of small
berries with superb fruit definition. This wine would accompany
a rich chicken cacciatore loaded with olives; wood fired oven
pizzas with spicy Italian meats or; sticky, slow cooked lamb
shanks.
